No more ID?

July 13, 2006

The Register have featured a flurry of stories in recent days about the imminent collapse of the UK governments ID card scheme, culminating in this article, which suggests the wheels have finally fallen off the project completely. Well, good. I have no desire to carry an ID card, and have been entirely unconvinced by the arguments for them. Or, more importantly, the arguments for the huge database that would underpin the scheme.

Plenty of comment from people who actually update their blogs:

Went for a drink down by the river the other day. I love the Thames in the evening. Nice pretty colours.

A gate a-topped with barbed wire that I saw on Brick Lane. Mmm, gritty and urban.

I like his photo posting thing.

Expect more photos.

Education is fun!
