Tasty food

Missfran, she of 101 Things posted a rather tasty looking lentil and sausage casserole recipe the other day. So I decided to try it last night. I followed her recipe, except I only had six sausages, not eight. And I added some chopped chorizo I happened to have hanging around.

I have to say it totally rocked. Fran’s looked nice and all, but, to be brutally honest, I reckon mine was nicer. The chorizo added a fantastic smoky depth to the dish. Also, any food that comes with a bright orange oil slick on top just has to be good.

Here it is bubbling away in the pan:

And plated up, with steamed broccoli:

I cooked it slowly, for a long time (1h 45m-ish), which I think helped the overall texture. The lentils I used were named on the packet as “Continental Lentils”, a rhyme which pleased me no end.
